This a popular dive site among free divers and spear fishermen. The beach is long and sloped and much more forgiving than nearby Monastery Beach. There are some healthy stands of kelp forest that still thrive close to shore.

A view of Ribera Beach from the trailhead. It's a long set of stairs to get to the water.

Follow Ribera Road until you find the well marked trail head and park on the street near the water. There are several trails that will lead to the beach but the most direct is a long set of stairs down to the water. There is a network of waterfront trails here that connect Monastery North to Carmel and Carmel River State Beach and you're really only limited by your quads and your tolerance for elevation change. Since there are few direct accesses to these trails from the street, please don't be tempted to bushwhack through backyards!

Amenities
