A closeup of the sand at Glass Beach

Glass Beach is an odd type of tourist destination. Having begun as a common dump for the city of Fort Bragg, years of industrial littering have produced a rich bed of sea glass tumbled into beautiful flecks of color in the sand. In an odd twist, the beach has attracted so much attention for its sea glass that tourists have carted off much of it to the detriment of the beach's glittering reputation. Fortunately for people attracted to the coast for non-garbage reasons, the area has only gotten better.
