Big Sur

From OpenDiveSites.org

Big Sur is better known for hiking and surfing than diving. The nearest dive shops are upwards of an hour's drive away and make the logistics of scuba diving here tricky. Freediving on the other hand allows comparatively unencumbered divers to scale the steep cliffs and bushwhack through the difficult terrain to the water which may or may not be inviting due to the harsh exposure most unprotected coves offer on all but the most forgiving days. But on a good day, you'll have some of the most incredible, rugged and unique diving all to yourself.
